Heat Detector vs. Smoke Detector

This IS a heat detector, rightfully named b/c it detects heat.  But why do I need this if I have  a smoke detector?

The family was sound asleep when they heard pops/cracks coming from the garage at 12:30 a.m. and thought someone was breaking in, but after opening the door to the garage they were met with a very large and intense fire.  They are lucky to be alive and will certainly pass their story along in hopes of educating and saving another home and family from a near tragic event.

Spontaneous combustion is very real and after witnessing 20 foot flames coming out of his garage at 1 a.m., I have learned the lesson and now it is my duty to pass it on!

Follow up to Heat Detectors- The smoke alarms did not go off in the house, even with a very large fire right outside the fire safety door.  So….the moral here is every garage should have a heat detector!  This alarm would have gone off and perhaps allowed them to call 911 sooner and salvage more of their home.

DO YOU HAVE A HEAT DETECTOR IN YOUR GARAGE?  PASS THIS STORY ON TO SAVE SOMEONE FROM A POTENTIALLY DISASTER.
